From the Editor

Ghost Ranch: Land of Light is the culmination of a six-year photographic journey by David Scheinbaum and Janet Russek, capturing the rugged beauty of the Southwest's Ghost Ranch—best known as Georgia O’Keeffe’s home. With exclusive access, they braved intense heat and snow to document its mystical landscape. Printed in a stunning tri-tone method, the images echo the hand-toned effects of the original exhibition prints.

The book includes a limited collector’s edition and was the basis of an exhibition at The Albuquerque Museum of Art (Jan–Mar 1998) and the Museum of Fine Arts, Santa Fe (May–Jul 1998), followed by a national tour. Scheinbaum is a professor and former assistant to Beaumont Newhall; Russek worked with Eliot Porter and founded the New Mexico Council on Photography. Together, they direct a gallery in Santa Fe. Their work is held in major collections, including the Amon Carter Museum, NY Public Library, and Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris.
